Esports can have a powerful and positive impact on children and young people, helping them develop confidence, leadership, teamwork, and self‑esteem. Across Wales, esports clubs and community programmes play an important role in creating safe, supportive environments where these qualities can grow. High‑quality coaching and positive role modelling are essential to this, and every club, volunteer, and event organiser shares responsibility for promoting safe and responsible practice.
Safeguarding is a core commitment of Esports Wales and is central to our work with players, parents, schools, volunteers, and partners. We recognise our duty to protect children, young people, and adults at risk from harm, and we consistently review and strengthen our policies, procedures, and training to ensure that everyone involved in esports can participate safely, both online and in person.
We work closely with clubs, schools, community organisations, and delivery partners to embed safeguarding into every activity—whether at events, in coaching environments, or in digital spaces. Our safeguarding framework covers welfare, online safety, safer recruitment, event planning, code of conduct expectations, and clear reporting pathways. Welfare and protection always take priority over performance or competitive outcomes.
