Borderlands 3 Crew Challenges Guide: Crimson Radio

Borderlands 3 sees the introduction of a new feature into the critically acclaimed looter shooter franchises: Crew Challenges. These side quests are strewn across most planets and net you some a serious XP bonus (and occasionally rewards). In this series of guides, I’ll be showing you the locations, as well as how to access them. Please note that all of these guides contain major map spoilers.

The COV have taken over the galaxy, and are using all sorts of tactics to recruit new members to their devilish cult. One of these methods is by radio broadcasts set up across the galaxy that preach the word of the Calypso Twins. Thankfully, Moxxi is in charge of Crimson Radiers recruiting and has devised a genius plan: sabotage the airwaves and replace it with the sweet sweet sound of Crimson Radio. What’s more, she’s willing to reward you for your hard work! This guide reveals all the Crimson Radio locations so you can strengthen the raiders.

Pandora

Pandora has seven radios for you to liberate:

Acension Bluffs

Acension Bluff

Head to the area seen above and you’ll come across a shanty building built underneath a pylon. Once you clear out the COV living there, head inside and look for this piece of metal:

Climbing Point

Once you make it up using Borderland 3’s climbing mechanic, head out of the hut and turn right to follow the arrow up to the roof. Continue the path made using the car and you’ll reach the top of the shanty building. If you look right you’ll notice a light blue porta cabin. Climb ontop and you’ll find the radio controls. From there, sabotage it and you’ll receive compensation for your hard work.

Devil’s Razor

Devil’s Razor has two Crimson Radios, the first of which can be seen below:

As you approach the site you’ll find that the radio is hidden within an oil refinery. Look for the entrance to the sewers, marked by a massive Dahl logo. Once inside clear out the enemies and head for the stair case at the back.

Continue past the two doors until you reach the staircase that descends onto a slightly lower level (seen in the image below). Climb the metal platform in front of you then climb again onto the big pipe.

Then climb onto the smaller pipe that is adjacent to the bigger one and follow it to the metal platform above which contains a burst pipe. Climb onto the left part of the pipe and follow it until you reach the beam:

Hop onto that beam and reach the ledge. You’ll see a container with lights at the bottom. Turn left and go behind it and you’ll find another set of stairs. Climb it and you’ll reach the radio transmission, which can be turned off for a reward.

Devil’s Razor Second Radio

Map

As you enter the clearing you’ll find a family or two of skags. After clearing them, head for the house that is nearby. Once inside continue towards the containers and look left. Peer over the railings and you’ll see a platform with the radio on. Jump on down and go collect your reward.

The Splinterlands

Map

Head for the marker on the map and clear out any enemies that get in your way. Then, look around for a set of buildings again built into a pylon. It’s next to a BC sign.

Move closer and you’ll find a set of stairs leading up to the second floor. Climb these and look for an open power box with its cables loose. Climb up that and then the ledge and you’ll find the radio is right in front of you.

Carnivora

Map

Carnivora’s crimson radio is by far the easiest to find on Pandora and is conveniently located close to spawn. Follow the path and clear the enemies. Once you reach the skull with jaws, head right and look for a green tent. Head right again and you’ll find an open container with some metal plates underneath. You can either take a run up from the rock and land inside the container or just directly climb up. Either way, you’ll reach the radio.

Konrad’s Hold

Map

This one is a bit tricky to get to and requires some patience. Once you approach the site you’ll notice it’s on an elevated piece of railway track. You’ll also notice a track in front of you with a car at the end. Take a run up from the beginning of this track and jump just before the car and you’ll just about land on the radio track. Don’t worry if you fall, as there’s a ladder nearby for you to try again.

Cathedral of the Twin Gods

Map

Head to the marker on the map and look for the catch a ride. You’ll notice behind it there’s a set of porta-cabins and a ramp. Head up to the edge of the ramp and look up. You’ll notice another ramp above it. Climb onto there and continue up the ladder. Progress to the last ramp and look right. Take a slight runup and grapple onto the metal bar, and then the second metal bar. Then you’ll want to look up and land on this pipe:

Once you’ve made it onto this pipe, climb again to the small bit at the top and then jump for the last time onto the platform, which contains the radio.

Promethea

Promethea has four radios for you to liberate:

 

Meridian Outskirts

Map

Once you reach the marker, the radio is clearly visible, standing atop a tower made out of porta-cabins.

Climb up the first cabin, onto the second then jump to the highest one and you’re there!

Meridian Metroplex

Map

This one is relatively easy; head to Dynasty Diner and look for this Maliwan crate:

Once you’ve found it, climb ontop and then climb onto the building next to it (seen in the picture on the right). Then, look left and climb the crate with the orange marking. Finally take a run up and aim for the top of Dynasty Diner, where the radio is located.

Lectra City

Once you reach the area, you’ll notice this COV checkpoint:

Take the first right at this checkpoint, past the dumpling shop then a sharp left into a courtyard where enemies will be ready to greet you. There are two ways to get to the radio but i’m going to show the bin method. You could also use the powerbox.

hop onto this bin and then through the broken low-wall onto the top of the porta-cabin. Then, take a left and head halfway across the ramp. You’ll notice a lamp which has a sloped head. Take a run-up and jump onto that and then through another broken low wall, leading you right to the radio.

Atlas HQ

Map

Once you reach this one, you’ll notice it’s below you. Jump down and the radio will be in plain sight.

Athenas

Athenas has just one radio for you to liberate:

It’s another tricky one to get to, and requires a lot of jumping. First, head towards the area and look for this speaker:

Once found, go behind it and scale the Maliwan crates. Turn left, and slip past the slope. Then, turn left again and climb over the next Maliwan crate and head right, along the edge. Hop onto the railings and onto the blue roof, and look left:

Climb onto this ledge by doing a run-up. Make sure you aim for the farthest point of the platform so you don’t get caught underneath the roof. Climb that same roof and leap over the boxes. Then, climb the second blue roof and you’ll find yourself face to face with a gap between you and the radio. Run across and climb the ladder. Then look for the second ladder, and you will now have access to the radio.

Eden-6

There are seven radios for you to liberate on Eden-6:

 

Floodmoor Basin Radio 1

Map

This one is a bit of a climb. When you approach you’ll see it’s a pylon-like structure that is part of the lumber transport system. You’ll also notice a small hut underneath. Jump onto its roof, then onto the wooden platform. It’s up to you which beam you want to walk across, but you’ll need to get to this metal beam at the end:

Once you’re ontop of the metal beam, look up and grapple onto the wooden beam. Then, aim for either side (preferably onto the crates) then walk across to the wooden platform with the radio on.

Floodmoor Basin Radio 2

Map

This radio is perched above a silo and is easy to miss. Look for the red light emitting from the satellite dish. If you still can’t find it, the silo looks like this:

Head to the portacabin next to it and start to climb onto the second one. Then, climb onto the AC and you’ll see some sheet metal on the telephone line. Jump onto that and then turn left to hop onto the green portacabin. Continue to the yellow one and then look up and jump. You’ll see the radio right in front of you.

The Anvil Radio 1

Map

This one sits atop a pileup of portacabins. Clear out enemies and climb ontop of the brown base one, then onto the blue one with a yellow marking. Then, climb onto the green one with yellow marking and move back a bit. Look behind you and take a runup onto the short cream portacabin, and turn around again to face a ledge next to the blue portacabin. Take another runup and then climb up onto the last blue portacabin, revealing the radio.

The Anvil Radio 2

Map

Another easy to miss radio, this one is on a tower. It’s connected to what looks like a path made out of branches. Ignore it as you fall right through and look for this block of stone:

Once the enemies are cleared take a runup from the block to the pipe with a metal platform on it. Then, climb onto the pipe above and follow it to the next block. Climb on that and look forwards. You’ll see a burst pipe; jump onto that and turn right. Look up and grapple onto the metal beam. Finally, look up and jump onto the top of the tower and liberate that radio.

Jakobs Estate

Map

This one’s on a house. You’ll want to go round the back and look for a pileup of small crates, marked with the yellow paint. Climb onto those and then onto the roof. Turn left and head up the ladder and the radio is right there.

Ambermire Radio 1

Map

Yet another easy to miss radio that sits ontop of a tower:

You’ll want to head round back and look this crate:

Climb ontop and then jump the gap to use the ladder to head across the platform. Duck under the tanker and turn right. You’ll notice a gap take a runup but halfway through hit the slide button and jump. This way you won’t get stopped by the overarches. This might take a few tries.

Once across, look right and climb onto the large pipe. Look right again and aim for the platform. Once on, the radio is yours for the taking (oh, and a free chest too).

Ambermire Radio 2

Map

The second radio in Ambermire sits on a wooden platform, next to it you’ll see a large pipe. Follow it until you find this caution sign:

Climb onto it and follow it until you’re aligned with the radio. Then, make the jump and turn that COV racket off.

Nekrotafeyo

Nekortafeyo has three radios for you to liberate:

 

Desolation’s Edge Radio 1

Map

This one’s conveniently close to the fast travel station. It’s a bunch of Maliwan crates pushed together. Head round the back and climb onto this crate:

Take the stairs to the lookout point and climb onto the crate. Turn left and take a run up onto the long Maliwan crate sticking out. Continue across it to find a shorter, elevated crate. Jump onto that and look left for the last time and you’ll see the radio. Take a jump and sabotage that radio.

Desolation’s Edge Radio 2

Map

A nice and simple one; jump onto these crates:

Then jump onto the wall behind them. Take a run up to get onto the long crate and from there hop onto the lookout point to sabotage the radio.

Tazendeer Ruins

Map

For this radio you’ll want to head round the back. When looking at the buildings like this:

Head to the right past the Maliwan banner and look down. You’ll notice there’s a rock sticking out; jump onto it and turn left and there’ll be another rock shaped like a +. Jump the gap and look behind you and you’ll see a rock ledge. Hop onto it and then right onto the building.

Once you’re on proceed to climb the long crate then the short crate and turn right to climb onto the second floor. Climb onto another long crate and then right onto the highest crate and the radio will be waiting for you.
