The World Esports Championship returns to Indonesia for the third time. The International Esports Federation (IESF) is proud to announce that Indonesia will host the World Esports Championship 2026 (WEC26) from 15–20 December 2026, bringing the world’s best national esports teams together to compete for the title of World Esports Champion.
A decade after hosting the first championship in 2016 and an Olympic cycle after 2022, Indonesia will
once again welcome the World of Esports, this time for a new generation of athletes, new titles and a
new chapter in the history of the World Esports Championship.
Esports Capital of the World is in Indonesia, bringing together more than 500 athletes inside national
teams from more than 110 Member National Federations and putting the world’s leading esports titles
on one stage.
WEC26 will feature five titles: Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG MOBILE and
eFootball, with athletes competing under their national flags and representing their countries on the
global stage.
The return to Indonesia carries particular significance for IESF. When the World Esports Championship
first came to the city in 2016, the World Esports landscape looked very different. Ten years on, the
championship has grown in scale and reach, while Indonesia has continued to strengthen its position as
one of the world’s most important esports contenders and major event organizers.
“We are grateful to our Indonesian Esports Family for their continuous dedication and support of
Esports,” said Vlad Marinescu, President of IESF. “Together we have made history, organizing the biggest
esports event on a beach, in Bali 2022, and now we are sure that together we will provide the best
experience and conditions for all athletes who have qualified for this event. They represent their
countries and will fight for the opportunity to raise their national flag!”
During the event, 152 Member National Federations will be attending the Ordinary General Meeting. As
the World Esports Championship returns to Indonesia, we look forward to welcoming the world,
