New Year’s Letter 2021/2022

Posted by John Jackson January 2, 2022 in NEWS

To the Esports Wales community,

I am very happy to address you in this new year. It’s been a difficult year for many with events/plans
cancelled and not being able to see family and friends. I hope that Esports Wales has been a safe haven
for people to meet and socialize with others over the last year.

This letter is an opportunity for me to go back and acknowledge the achievements we have made
together and to present to you the projects that will materialise within the next year.

I would like to first highlight the great successes of this year, which have made esports shine in Wales.
We have had multiple new Esports Teams from the colleges, Cambria, Sir Gâr, and Cymoedd as well as
seeing the other colleges in Wales go from strength to strength in the British Esports Champs.

We have also seen the new addition to the Uni scene with a new Esports Society at UWTSD. Not to
mention the great performances from the other Uni’s within Wales in NUEL and NSE, and hope to see it
continue in the next split.

We have had the pleasure of working with the Welsh Apprenticeships Program, Welsh Government and
the FAW as well as numerous charity tournaments to help raise money for organizations like Special
Effect.

Support from our new sponsors Deal Me Out and HyperX has allowed us to run multiple community
tournaments and compete in the IESF world championship 2021!

Following your feedback, we have made a number of changes to the organisation and plan to keep
developing the progress.

We are starting a new stage in 2022, with 3 full-time members of staff. We hope that this will bring
better consistency and support to people in Wales. We hope to keep developing those clear pathways
for the development of Esports Talent. Esports Wales must become a support system for all, which will
help us to evolve and progress the world of esports in Wales and beyond.

The staff and I wish you a good year for 2022.
