Esports Wales Attends DreamHack

Posted by Esports Wales ON March 29, 2026 in PRESS RELEASE

Birmingham, UK – Esports Wales attended DreamHack, one of the world’s largest gaming and esports festivals, delivering activations on the British Esports stand and connecting with Welsh individuals working and competing across the esports industry.

Esports Wales ran a community meetup on the British Esports Stand, engaging directly with attendees through hands‑on experiences and community interaction alongside national partners. The activations provided opportunities to showcase Welsh esports pathways, discuss grassroots‑to‑elite development, and promote the work being undertaken in Wales across competition, education, and community programmes.

Connecting the Welsh Esports Community

Alongside on‑floor activity, Esports Wales used the event as an opportunity to meet with Welsh players, creators, organisers, and staff who are currently working or competing within the wider UK and international esports ecosystem. These conversations helped strengthen connections across the Welsh esports community, supporting collaboration, visibility, and long‑term sector growth.

Attending DreamHack also allowed Esports Wales to engage with industry partners, event organisers, and fellow national bodies, reinforcing Wales’ presence within major UK esports spaces.

Cardiff Twitch Meetup AfterParty

As part of the wider community engagement surrounding DreamHack weekend activity, Esports Wales also attended the Cardiff Twitch Meetup afterparty, held at Bowlplex. The event brought together over 400 attendees, including streamers, content creators, community organisers, and industry professionals from across Wales and the UK.

The meetup provided a valuable informal setting to engage with the creator community, discuss opportunities within esports and content creation, and strengthen links between grassroots creators and national esports structures.

John Jackson, CEO of Esports Wales, said:

Attending DreamHack was a valuable opportunity to represent Wales, connect with our community, and showcase the work happening across Welsh esports. Events like these are vital for building relationships, supporting emerging talent, and ensuring Wales continues to have a strong presence within the wider UK and international esports ecosystem.”
