Esports Wales Returns to The Green Lady

Posted by Esports Wales ON March 26, 2025 in Esports

Esports Wales recently returned to where it all began – The Green Lady in Caerphilly! Five years ago, in 2019, this very pub was the birthplace of Esports Wales, bringing together passionate gamers to form a community that has since grown into a national esports organisation.

To celebrate this milestone, we revisited The Green Lady to reconnect with the local gaming community and show our appreciation for where it all started. As a token of our gratitude, we gifted a special Esports Wales jersey to The Green Lady – a symbol of the journey we’ve taken over the past five years.

The Green Lady played a role in the early days of Esports Wales, providing a space for the board to meet, and discuss the future of esports in Wales. That legacy has continued with CGC – The Community Gaming Club, which came through the Esports Wales Academy and now runs regular gaming nights at the pub. Seeing the local gaming scene thrive and grow has been a proud moment for everyone involved.

John posted in 2020 the following:

John Jackson, CEO of Esports Wales, reflected on the occasion:
“Returning to The Green Lady was a special moment for me. This pub was where we signed the papers for Esports Wales to become a CIC, and to see now CGC doing events there is incredible. It’s a reminder of how far we’ve come and why grassroots gaming is so important in Wales. Huge thanks to everyone who has supported us on this journey – and here’s to the next five years!”

It was a night filled with nostalgia, gaming, and great company. Thank you to The Green Lady and CGC for keeping the esports spirit alive in Caerphilly – and to everyone who has been part of our journey so far!
