Welsh Esports Cup: Celebrating Champions from Gower College Swansea and Cardiff & Vale College

The Welsh Esports Cup delivered an electrifying display of talent and teamwork as some of Wales’ most skilled student gamers competed for glory. This year’s tournament saw outstanding performances from two educational powerhouses: Gower College Swansea and Cardiff & Vale College.

Double Triumph for Gower College Swansea Owls

Gower College Swansea’s esports team, the GCS Owls, soared to victory in both Valorant and Rocket League, showcasing their dominance across multiple game genres.

In the Valorant tournament, the GCS Owls displayed exceptional coordination against Tydfil Tytans from Merthyr College, strategy, and skill, overcoming fierce opposition to claim the title. While the games were close GCS experience was able to come through and they were able to win the two games for a best of 3 finals.

The Rocket League finals were no less thrilling, with the GCS Owls taking on Dreigiau Cwm Rhymni’s. The Owls delivered a spectacular performance, securing a 5-1 victory. Emyr, Bxtr22, Kryan and Ryxxee showed what they could do.

Cardiff & Vale College Claims EAFC Title

Cardiff and Vale College (CAVC) proved their mettle in the EAFC tournament, with their team, the CAVC Celts, emerging as champions. The Celts demonstrated exceptional control, strategy, and adaptability, outmanoeuvring their rivals to lift the trophy.

Their victory underscores the growing popularity of virtual football and highlights the skill and dedication of students excelling in this dynamic and competitive title.

Esports Growing in Welsh Education
