An Interview with PixiePoppins

Today we sat down with Pixie Poppins to discuss how the Commonwealth went and how she got into gaming.   PixiePoppins played for the Welsh Women’s Rocket League team in the Commonwealth Esports  Championships 2022.  Her team beat Kenya to end up third in the group only losing to Gold and Sliver medalists.

What is your gamer tag and how did you get the name?
My gamer tag is PixiePoppins and it was apart of a long childhood nickname from my dad. I’ve now had it all my life and was part of my childhood nickname. 

What age did you start playing games and what’s the first game you remember playing?
I don’t know old I was exactly but it was before the age of 5 around 2010 and it was Winnie the Pooh on a 

What made you decide to pursue a role in Esports

Watching Rocket League youtubers but mainly watching Lethamyr I also liked idea of playing competitively.

What’s your all time favourite game?

Rocket League unless we’re also including mobile games it wound be piano tiles.

What is a typical day like for you?

Wake up, go to lessons, eat lunch, go to lessons again, hang out with friends, eat tea, play games and go to sleep.

What do you like to do when you aren’t gaming or working in gaming?

I like doing ballet, singing, playing football and hanging out with friends.

Can you give any advice to anyone looking to start working in the Esports industry?

Research, get involved in the communities, apply to things that you find interesting, give things a go even if you’re nervous or if you think it’s not likely going to happen, and have fun.
