Board Members

Benefits of Esports

OUR APPROACH

Esports Wales CIC is governed by a Board of Directors responsible for the organisation’s strategic leadership, legal compliance, safeguarding oversight, financial stewardship, and long‑term development of esports across Wales. The Board operates collectively, exercising independent judgement and acting in the best interests of the company and the wider Welsh esports community.

The composition of the Board follows the Articles of Association and is structured to ensure a balanced mix of perspectives, independence, and skills. The Board includes appointed independent non‑executive directors, elected non‑executive directors, the Chief Executive Officer as an executive director, and co‑opted members who serve in an advisory, non‑voting capacity. This ensures a blend of strategic expertise, community representation, and independent scrutiny aligned with good governance practice.

Directors may join the Board through election by member clubs, appointment through an open and competitive process, or co‑option where specialist expertise is required. All appointments follow transparent, merit‑based criteria and comply with the Director Appointment, Induction & Removal Policy. Co‑opted members are appointed for fixed terms and regularly reviewed to ensure continued relevance and independence.

The Board is committed to operating with integrity, accountability, and transparency — upholding the highest standards of governance, safeguarding, equality, and ethical leadership as set out in Esports Wales’ policies and supporting documents. Directors undertake formal induction, ongoing training, and regular evaluation to maintain effectiveness and uphold their collective responsibilities.
