Meet Streamer GLHFDero

Is there a story behind how you got your twitch username?

The evolution of your username from “deroda” to “dero” and then adding “GLHF” is quite interesting! It’s fascinating how nicknames can develop and stick over time. Starting as “deroda” in 2004 and gradually shortening it to “dero” shows a natural progression in how usernames can morph and become more streamlined. Adding “GLHF,” which stands for “Good Luck, Have Fun,” is a fun and positive touch, reflecting the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie often found in gaming communities.

What name do you prefer to go by?

Dean

What games do you mostly stream?

I find myself gravitating towards the adrenaline-fueled world of tactical shooters, and one title has captured my attention like no other: Valorant. Developed by Riot Games, this fast-paced FPS combines precise gunplay with strategic teamwork, creating an electrifying experience that keeps me coming back for more.

When I’m not immersed in the intense battles of Valorant, I occasionally venture into the vast landscape of other FPS games.

While Valorant remains my main focus, these occasional forays into different FPS titles serve to enrich my gaming journey, providing fresh perspectives and exciting adventures along the way. So, whether you’re a fellow Valorant enthusiast or simply enjoy the thrill of FPS gameplay, I invite you to join me on my streams.

When did you first start streaming and what was it that inspired you/made you want to start streaming?

I began sharing videos online as early as 2006 and explored the nascent Twitch platform in its early days. However, it wasn’t until the last couple of years that I delved into streaming more regularly and creating content. The inspiration behind this shift was the desire to provide my friends with a firsthand look at my gaming adventures, particularly in games like Valorant where my skills were, let’s say, a work in progress. Streaming became a fun and interactive way for me to share my gaming experiences with my friends while also honing my skills and connecting with a broader audience.

When did you start playing games and what was the first game you remembered playing?

I embarked on my gaming journey back in 1984, when I was introduced to the world of gaming through the classic Commodore 64. The first game etched in my memory is none other than Pitstop 2. Yep, showing my age a bit here, but those early gaming experiences laid the foundation for my lifelong passion for gaming.

What is your all time favorite game?

Selecting just one all-time favorite game is quite the challenge, considering the wealth of memorable titles across various platforms. However, if I had to pinpoint a couple that truly stand out, it would have to be Streets of Rage 2 and Road Rash on the Sega Megadrive. These classics hold a special place in my gaming heart, delivering countless hours of adrenaline-fueled fun and nostalgia.

What do you like to do when you are not streaming?

When I’m not live on stream or diving into the world of gaming, you’ll often find me indulging in my love for films. As an aging gamer who still relishes the thrill of competitive play, I also take joy in sharing the gaming experience with my two boys, fostering their love for the digital realm. At the moment, I’m clocking numerous victories in Fortnite, thanks to the skillful assistance of my 11-year-old, who’s proven to be quite the adept gaming partner.
