DEFINITIONS

Administration (or Attempted Administration): Involvement in providing, supplying, supervising, facilitating, or otherwise participating in the use or attempted use of a prohibited substance or method by a participant. This does not include actions by legitimate medical personnel for therapeutic purposes, provided they are not intended to enhance performance.

Admission/s: Verbal or written acknowledgement of an anti-doping rule violation or breach of any relevant code.

Adverse Analytical Finding: A report identifying the presence of a prohibited substance or its metabolites, markers, or evidence of the use of a prohibited method in a sample provided by a participant.

Agreed Sanction: A penalty or punishment that is mutually agreed upon by the parties involved, often in a disciplinary or legal context.

Anti-Corruption Code: A set of rules established to ensure the integrity of esports, prohibiting actions like bribery, match manipulation, and other corrupt activities.

Anti-Corruption Tribunal: A panel of three individuals appointed to perform functions assigned under the Anti-Corruption Code. Tribunal members are independent of the organization and may be compensated for their services.

Anti-Doping Policy: The policy governing anti-doping efforts, amended periodically, aimed at maintaining fairness and integrity in esports.

Anti-doping Rule Violation: A breach of the Anti-Doping Policy.

Appeal Panel: A panel of three persons appointed to perform the functions of the Appeal Panel under disciplinary procedures.

Articles of Association: The foundational document of the organization that sets out its rules, regulations, and structure.

Bet or Betting: Any form of financial wager or speculation, including but not limited to betting on virtual items or participating in fantasy competitions that are considered gambling under applicable laws.

Chairman of the Board: The person appointed to lead meetings and decision-making for the organization’s governing body.

Chairman of the Panel: The person appointed to chair meetings of the Panel, including hearings on charges brought under the Anti-Corruption Code.

Code of Conduct: The official set of rules outlining acceptable behaviour for players and player support personnel, amended as needed.

Code of Ethics: The ethical guidelines governing the behaviour of members, participants, and associated individuals, are updated periodically.

Code/s: The collective term for all codes within the governance framework, including conduct, ethics, and anti-corruption codes.

Conditions of Membership: The agreement outlining the terms and conditions of membership with the organization.

Constitution: The foundational legal document that outlines the structure, governance, and operational rules of the organization.

Corrupt Conduct: Any act or omission that would be considered an offence under the Anti-Corruption Code or any breach of the Code of Conduct, including bribery, match-fixing, or any behaviour that undermines the integrity of esports.

Demand: A request or directive, often in the context of anti-corruption or anti-doping efforts.

Directors: Individuals appointed to the executive board of the organization, responsible for the strategic direction and oversight.

Disciplinary Panel: A group of three members appointed to handle matters referred to them for disciplinary action.

Disciplinary Procedures: The formal process set out to address alleged breaches of the organization’s rules and policies.

Doping Control: The entire process of testing, analysis, and results management associated with ensuring compliance with anti-doping regulations.

Effective Date: The date when a policy or regulation becomes active and enforceable.

End Date: The date when a particular rule, regulation, or suspension period expires.

Esports: Competitive gaming involving players or teams, often in a structured environment with rules and regulations.

Event/s: Any live esports event or tournament where games are contested in real-time by players or teams, including events sanctioned or organized by members.

Executive Board: The governing body responsible for making strategic decisions and overseeing the implementation of policies and programs.

Game: A competitive video game played electronically by players, typically in an esports setting.

Ineligibility: A period during which a participant is barred from participating in a game or esports event due to a violation.

Inside Information: Any non-public information about an event, match, or player that could influence betting decisions or is otherwise confidential.

Integrity Commissioner: The appointed person with supervisory responsibilities over the integrity programs, codes, and policies.

Match: A competitive game between players or teams in an esports event.

Match Referee: An official responsible for overseeing the conduct of a match, ensuring rules are followed, and enforcing compliance.

Medical File: An online record maintained by players that includes medical evidence supporting the use of a prohibited substance for therapeutic reasons.

Member: Any organization or entity that has joined the organization by fulfilling the required conditions of membership.

Metabolites or Markers: Substances produced through the metabolism of a prohibited substance.

Mobile Device: Any portable device capable of connecting to the internet or a network, including smartphones, tablets, or laptops.

Monitoring List: A list of substances identified for additional observation due to their potential use by participants.

Notice of Charge: A written notice detailing an alleged violation, including proposed sanctions and hearing details.

Official: Any individual acting with authority at an event, including referees, integrity personnel, and other officials.

Participant: Any person involved in an esports event or match, including players, team members, and support personnel.

Player: Any individual who plays a game or participates in a match in an esports event.

Player Support Personnel: Individuals who assist players in their training or performance, including coaches, managers, and agents.

Plea Bargain: An agreement where a participant pleads guilty to a lesser charge in exchange for a more lenient sanction.

Principles: The core values and guiding principles that inform the policies and procedures within the integrity program.

Programme: The comprehensive integrity initiative that encompasses anti-doping, anti-corruption, code of conduct, and other ethical guidelines.

Prohibited Association: Association with individuals or organizations that are disqualified from participating in esports activities.

Prohibited List: The list of substances deemed prohibited for use in esports, can be found on the official website.

Prohibited Substance: Any substance listed as prohibited by the organization due to its potential to enhance performance or harm the integrity of the sport.

Provisional Hearing: A fast-tracked hearing to determine whether a provisional suspension should be lifted.

Provisional Suspension: A temporary ban on participation in esports pending the outcome of an investigation or hearing.

Rejected Participants: Individuals who have been banned from participating in esports events due to violations.

Rejection Order: A directive issued to a member, recommending they do not accept certain individuals into sanctioned tournaments.

Report: A formal account of an alleged violation of the code of conduct.

Reward: Any direct or indirect financial or other benefit received for actions outside of official contracts or prize money.

Rules and Regulations: The official set of rules governing how a game is played, as determined by the game publisher or governing body.

Sample: A biological sample collected for the purposes of doping control.

Suspension Points: Points assigned based on the severity of an offence, are used to determine the duration of a suspension.

Tampering or Attempting to Tamper: Any attempt to alter or obstruct doping control procedures.

Target Testing: The selection of specific players for testing based on identified risk factors.

Team: A group of players participating together in a match or event, including team managers.

Terms and Conditions: The rules and agreements a participant must accept to join a game or event.

Tournament Host/s: Entities responsible for providing the location and facilities for an event, including venue owners and local organizing committees.

Tournament Organiser/s: The entity responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the event, ensuring compliance with rules and regulations.

Tournament Sponsors: Organizations that provide financial or material support to an event in exchange for branding or promotional opportunities.

Trafficking: The act of distributing, selling, or transporting prohibited substances or methods to players or support personnel.

Use: The consumption, application, or ingestion of a prohibited substance or method.
